Now, the story of this elite Army unit, told through a ten-part epic that has been called, "the television event of the year - not to be missed" (The Sun) will become a part of home video history. On November 4, the highly acclaimed and eagerly anticipated miniseries, BAND OF BROTHERS, executive produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, will be available to own on VHS and DVD.
Packaged in unique box sets, BAND OF BROTHERS will be available in a six disc embossed metallic case DVD collection for £59.99 RRP and a four volume embossed metallic case VHS collection for £49.99 RRP.
Based on Stephen E. Ambrose's non-fiction best seller, BAND OF BROTHERS tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Starting with their rigorous training in Georgia in 1942, it recounts the achievements of the elite Rifle Company from D-Day to the fall of Nazi Germany and the surrender. Drawn from hours of interviews with survivors, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, BAND OF BROTHERS chronicles a unit that took 150 percent casualties and whose lives became legend.
Described as "a stunningly vivid portrait of war at the sharp end", (Evening Standard) BAND OF BROTHERS has received numerous awards including a Golden Globe for Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television, and a Peabody Award for Best Miniseries. The series has also been nominated for 19 Emmy Awards® including Outstanding Miniseries, Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special. The Guardian hailed the project as "a very large achievement" and the Daily Express said it was "as terrifying as anything I have seen on film".
