Criterion announce their first titles of 2003

Criterion have updated their website with details on three titles they have scheduled for release in January.



The following titles have a $29.95 retail price:

Band of Outsiders is presented at its original 1.33:1 Full Screen Aspect Ratio with French DD1.0 Mono Audio and will contain the following features...

  • New high-definition digital transfer, supervised by cinematographer Raoul Coutard
  • Visual glossary, including film clips and stills, detailing cultural references and wordplay employed by Godard throughout Band of Outsiders
  • Exclusive video interviews with Raoul Coutard and actress Anna Karina
  • Interview excerpts with Godard from 1964, and rare behind-the-scenes footage of the director and his crew shooting Band of Outsiders
  • Agnès Varda's silent comedy Les Fiancés du Pont Mac Donald, performed by members of the cast of Band of Outsiders and Jean-Luc Godard
  • Two theatrical trailers, including Godard’s original
  • New and improved English subtitle translation

  • New digital transfer, made from newly restored film elements
  • 1962 French television interview with director Julien Duvivier
  • Excerpts from the 1978 television documentary Remembering Jean Gabin
  • Excerpts from Ginette Vincendeau’s BFI Classics study of Pépé le Moko, addressing the historical background of the film’s setting and the French crime novel genre
