Warner Music Vision is proud to announce the 4th November release of Eric Clapton's Live in concert DVD and VHS release One More Car, One More Rider. Launched to coincide with the double CD of the same name.
One More Car, One More Rider is loaded with legendary Clapton favourites, including Layla, Cocaine, Wonderful Tonight, Sunshine of Your Love and the heart wrenching 1992 Grammy award winning tribute to his late son, Tears in Heaven. Also featured are more recent compositions including the engaging instrumental title track from his 2001 studio album Reptile, 1997 Song of the Year Change the World and My Fathers Eyes. Filmed on August 18th 2001 at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, the set closes with a moving rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
The Staples Center seats around 20,000 people and is home to both the LA Kings and LA Lakers. In August 2001 it played host to perhaps one of the greatest guitar players of our generation. One More Car, One More Rider is a celebration of haunting Clapton classics, poignant lyrics and inspirational guitar solos, captured for posterity on this DVD and VHS release.
Eric is backed on stage by Nathan East (Bass), Steve Gadd (drums), Andy Fairweather Low (guitar), Greg Phillinganes and Billy Preston (keyboards), and former E Street Band member David Sancious (keyboards and guitar).
The inspiration for the title of this live recording comes from a fairground ride attendant. Eric overheard the man repeatedly calling out, 'One More Car, One More Rider' to fill the last seat in the last car available for each ride. Liking the rhythm and sound, Clapton decided to use the words as the title for this double DVD and CD.
One More Car is Clapton's first concert set since his landmark 1992 Unplugged, which received a total of six Grammy's. Already a double inductee in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream, a third nod, as solo artist is an inevitable honour for this legendary guitarist.
His most recent studio album Reptile debuted in March 2001 at No.5 on The Billboard 200. Yet Clapton has hinted that the 2001 tour may be his last. All the more reason to savour this stunning home video release.
Eric Clapton - One More Car, One More Rider makes a perfect Christmas present that has something for everyone.
