Argento's The Card Player and The Stendhal Syndrome
Arrow Films/Fremantle Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Dario Argento's latest thriller The Card Player for 15th November 2004 priced at £15.99. The latest film from Italy's horror maestro Dario Argento (Sleepless; The Stendhal Syndrome) sees the acclaimed director moving into classic detective thriller territory in what is perhaps his most commercially accessible work to date.
The DVD comes with a behind the scenes featurette, a theatrical trailer and a promo trailer.
A month earlier on 18th October 2004 Arrow Films/Fremantle Home Entertainment will release Dario Argento's classic 1996 film, The Stendhal Syndrome (cert. 18). A return to vintage form for Argento, The Stendhal Syndrome stars the director's daughter, Asia Argento (xXx; The Red Siren), as a police detective suffering from a mental condition that causes her to retreat into horrifying hallucinations when confronted with works of art. When a serial killer discovers the secret of her illness, he uses it against her, forcing her to become an unwilling witness to his crimes.
