Warner Music Vision celebrates the 2nd December release of Feast on Scraps, a very special DVD boxset from premiere singer / songwriter Alanis Morissette. The boxset features a free CD containing nine inspirational songs, of which three are previously unreleased tracks from the most recent studio album release - Under Rug Swept.
Ever since Alanis Morissette exploded on to the contemporary music scene in the mid 90's, her hugely expressive lyrics and powerful performances have earned her seven Grammy awards and a dedicated worldwide fan base.
Hailing from Ottowa, Canada, Alanis shot to fame at just ten years old, when she landed a part in a Nickelodeon TV show and recorded her first single. Aged fourteen she was offered her first recording contract with MCA, and her debut album 'Alanis' went platinum in Canada. The same year she won a Juno (Canada's equivalent to the Grammys) for the Most Promising Female Vocalist. At the age of seventeen she moved to Los Angeles, and was later signed to Madonna's Maverick label.
The 1995 release of her groundbreaking album, Jagged Little Pill revealed a young artist with a unique voice and vision. Singles such as 'You Oughta know' 'Hand in my Pocket' and 'Ironic' reached out to listeners with their autobiographical lyrics. The album proved a huge success, etching up 2.5million sales in the UK alone and taking Alanis to superstardom.
This special DVD boxset captures exclusive concert footage of Alanis recorded on 13th August 2002 at the Ahoy in Rotterdam, taken from the 'Toward Our Union Mended Tour' with personal behind the scenes footage on the DVD and rare home videos. The infectious first single 'Hands Clean' with its lilting verses and forceful chorus and the strident 'Precious Illusions' both taken from Under Rug Swept, sit next to emotive renditions of the guitar heavy '21 Things I Want in a Lover' and the subtle rhythmic grooves of 'So Unsexy'.
The bonus enhanced CD that comes free with the 'Feast on Scraps' boxset, makes this the perfect Christmas present for any Alanis Morissette fan. Not only does the CD feature a collection of nine tracks, with three previously unreleased songs from 'Under Rug Swept' and six B sides, but also three vignettes of the making of 'Under Rug Swept' and an acoustic version of Hands Clean. Art work and lyrics provide additional entertainment and weblinks reach out to the web generation, a generation which has come of age to the Alanis Morissette soundtrack of gritty, challenging lyrics and empowering melodies.
