Director Tobe Hooper scares up a chilling tale of terror with The Mangler, available on DVD for the first time on August 17th from New Line Home Entertainment. Hooper, director of the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and Poltergeist, unites with masters of horror Stephen King (who wrote the story upon which The Mangler is based) and Robert Englund (star of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy Vs. Jason) to tell the tale of a cursed laundry machine that prefers feeding on people rather than clean shirts.
The Mangler DVD features alternate/unrated scenes (included with side-by-side edit comparisons), a widescreen version (1.85:1) of the film with DTS, 5.1 Surround Sound and Stereo Surround Sound, the theatrical trailer, English and Spanish subtitles, closed captions and animated menus plus additional New Line Cinema trailers. The film is rated R for gory horror violence and language and has a running time of 106 minutes.
The Guyver, starring Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Vivian Wu (Dinner Rush) and Jack Armstrong (28 Days, TV’s Live from Baghdad), is based on the original Japanese anime comic. In the movie, a young man discovers a mechanical device that merges with his own body, turning him into a cyborg superhero. This director’s cut DVD is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 92 minutes – including more than four additional minutes of newly restored film footage.
The Guyver returns to battle the forces of evil in The Guyver 2, an action-packed sequel to the 1991 film. Drawn to an archaeological dig in the Utah backcountry, the Guyver discovers an alien ship filled with weapons capable of world destruction. With the fate of all mankind in his hands, he makes a final stand against the forces of evil. This time, the world's strongest superhero must change his destiny to save the planet from the villainous Zoanids. The Guyver 2 is rated R for sci-fi violence, gore and language and has a 127- minute running time.
