A Million Little Pieces trailer: Aaron Taylor-Johnson struggles to overcome his life-threatening drug addiction
We're about to enter award season territory and with that, as always, comes a slew of Oscar-bait films. One look at the trailer for A Million Little Pieces will tell you this fits firmly into that category. It's based on James Frey's book that was originally sold as a memoir before accusations of literary forgery saw it marketed as a semi-fictional novel. Basically, it came to light that some of the events written about in the book had never actually happened in real life. The critical reception to the film has been pretty poor to say the least and almost a year since debuting at TIFF last year is it now finally getting a release. Watch the trailer for A Million Little Pieces above to see what you think.
An alcoholic and a drug addict, 23-year-old James has two options: treatment or death. After waking up on a plane with a smashed-up face and no memory of the past few weeks, he heads to rehab where he discovers much more than detox and therapy. As James endures the white-knuckle journey of mending his broken body, he heals his broken soul by connecting with other kindred spirits who also yearn and fight for a better life.
Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, Nowhere Boy) is directing, with the cast starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Juliette Lewis, Giovanni Ribisi and Odessa Young.
A Million Little Pieces opens in UK cinemas on August 30.
