Comments - Formatting Code

The site's comments feature isn't just plain-text, and each user can manipulate the content using various tags, which are explained below. This article is the result of a request by bradavon, but I'm sure there are others out there who would like to know how it's done!

To make text...

  • Bold: Text
  • Italic: Text
  • Underlined: Text
(More code featuring square brackets, i.e. not HTML, can already be found on the site - click here.)

HTML can also be used in comments, which is handy for creating links to other content. In the following examples the HTML is not correctly written (otherwise it would get recognised in this article and converted!), so when using it yourselves please remove the spaces from after the < tag and before the > tag.

  • To create a link that opens in the same window: < a href="" >Text to describe link< /a >
  • To create a link that opens in a new window: < a href="" target="_blank" >Text to describe link< /a >

Note: Users who are good enough to submit news to the site need to use HTML in their submissions, and not square bracket code that is normally used in comments for creating bold text etc.
