The HDR format war could be coming to an end as Universal join Fox and Warner in adopting dual-format releases

With the upcoming releases of The Secret Life of Pets 2 and The Cornetto Trilogy, Universal have announced they'll be supporting rival formats HDR10+ and Dolby Vision ensuring that no matter what your TV supports you'll be getting the best quality image from your 4K Blu-ray disc.

This follows the recent news that Alita: Battle Angel and Godzilla : King of the Monsters would sport both, Universal have quietly listed both the recent animation The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End as featuring both of the enhanced 4K display formats.

Hopefully this is the first step towards wider adoption of both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision across all future releases, which would be a step in the right direction for consumers.
