The Hunt trailer: Blumhouse’s new film is labelled the ultimate human experience
Taking its cues from films like The Most Dangerous Game, Battle Royale, and The Belko Experiment, writer Damon Lindelof's The Hunt is being pitched as a subversive political thriller, based on the current state of American politics. It's directed by Craig Zobel, who made Compliance back in 2012; an interesting indie based on the 'strip search phone call scam' that saw female employees humiliated by a man posing as a police officer on the phone. This is a Blumhouse produced affair so it’s hard not to liken the tone of the trailer to The Purge series, but not much is being given away at the moment. Watch the trailer for The Hunt above.
Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt. In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal, knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman at the center of it all.
With Zobel directing, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin and Amy Madigan all feature in the cast.
The Hunt hits UK and US cinemas on September 27.
