Love, Antosha trailer: A fitting documentary tribute to Anton Yelchin

Anton Yelchin was an actor on the rise at 27-years-old before tragically dying in a freak car-related incident outside of his home in June 2016. He had not long finished filming his role as Chekov (a role that will now be written out of any future films) on his second Star Trek film and was set to become a bigger star. Love, Antosha looks back on his life and career using archival footage including a stack of photos and home videos provided by his two parents. We're not sure if this will get a UK release at any point but watch the trailer above to see what the Love, Antosha documentary has in store.

Through his journals and other writings, his photography, the original music he wrote, and interviews with his family, friends, and colleagues, this film looks not just at Anton’s impressive career, but at a broader portrait of the man. Born in the former Soviet Union to a family of artists, Anton and his parents came to the U.S. when he was six months old. He started acting at nine. He had a genuine curiosity and love for people, for art, and for family. And a willingness to explore, and be open with, the darker parts of himself. Love, Antosha explores his successes and his struggles, and let’s viewers get to know this extraordinary person the world was cheated from seeing grow old.

Garret Price is directing, with Simon Pegg, Kristen Stewart, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ben Foster, Willem Dafoe, Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella, Nicolas Cage, J.J. Abrams and Jodie Foster just some of those who fondly remember Anton.

Love, Antosha opens in US theatres on August 2.
