Cannes Festival 2019 winners announced
The main awards for the 72nd Cannes Film Festival were handed out this evening on the French Riviera, with the prized Palme d'Or given to Joon-ho Bong for his acclaimed black comedy, Parasite.
There were 21 films in contention this year, with features like Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Céline Sciamma's Portrait of a Lady on Fire, the Dardenne brothers'Young Ahmed, Terrence Malick’s A Hidden Life, Ken Loach's Sorry We Missed You and Pedro Almodóvar's Pain and Glory all making an appearance.
This year’s jury was led by, Alejandro Iñárritu, with Enki Bilal, Robin Campillo, Maimouna N'Diaye, Senegalese, Elle Fanning, Yorgos Lanthimos, Paweł Pawlikowski, Kelly Reichardt and Alice Rohrwacher completing the line-up.

Jury Prize (tie): Les Misérables (Ladj Ly) and Bacurau (Kleber Mendonça Filho, Juliano Dornelles)
Special Palme d’Or: It Must Be Heaven (Elia Suleiman)
Best actor: Antonio Banderas (Pain & Glory)
Best director: Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne (The Young Ahmed)
Best screenplay: Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Céline Sciamma)
Best Actress: Emily Beecham (Little Joe)
Caméra d’Or: Our Mothers (César Díaz)
Short Film Palme d’Or: The Distance Between Us and the Sky (Vasilis Kekatos)
Special Mention of the Jury: Monstruo Dios (Agustina San)
Queer Palm (Feature): Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Céline Sciamma)
Queer Palm (Short): The Distance Between Us and the Sky (Vasilis Kekatos)
The awards for the Un Certain Regard section were also handed out on Friday by a jury featuring Lebanese director Nadine Labaki, French actress Marina Foïs, German producer Nurhan Sekerci-Porst, Argentinian director Lisandro Alonso and Belgian director Lukas Dhont.
