Apollo 11 trailer: See one of mankind's greatest achievements in glorious 16k
The 50th anniversary of the moon landing is on July 20 of this year and a new documentary, Apollo 11, manages to give us a fresh perspective on events. Director Todd Douglas Miller stumbled across previously uncatalogued footage and audio recordings which was then rescanned into stunning 8k and 16k resolution. The end result is really something to be seen and given the subject matter and rave reviews to date you can imagine this will have a good shot at picking up an Oscar in the documentary section next year. Apollo 11 will also be playing at this year's Sundance London and a new trailer has just been released for your enjoyment.
The film is crafted from a newly discovered trove of 70mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings. It takes us straight to the heart of NASA’s most celebrated mission—the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names.
The film will also be opening in UK cinemas on June 28.
