The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black re-released in June

This summer sees the release of the sequel, so Universal have decided to re-release the original, previously entitled Pitch Black, in a new guise - The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black. The DVD will arrive on 1 June 2004, presented in four different versions, each retailing at $26.98 each:

  • Fullscreen Theatrical Cut (R Rated)

    After crash-landing on a seemingly lifeless planet, a group of desperate passengers encounter an army of subterranean creatures whose only weakness is light. As night approaches and the aliens emerge, the passengers turn to a murderous convict with powerful night vision to lead them through the darkness. Starring Vin Diesel as the titular Riddick, it was directed by David Twohy and released in 2000.

    Then on 15 June 2004 another disc will be released, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. This animated feature, made to bridge the gap between Pitch Black and its upcoming sequel, will retail at $14.98. Directed by Peter Chung (The Animatrix) with voices by Vin Diesel and other stars from the movies (including Keith David, Nick Chinlund and Rhiana Griffith) specs on this DVD are as follows:
