Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese, released 12 June

Martin Scorsese’s new film documents Bob Dylan’s legendary Rolling Thunder Revue tour in the USA. Between October 1975 and May 1976, Dylan played fifty-seven dates in the USA and Canada, often featuring guests such as Joan Baez, Roget McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, Ronee Blakely and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. Some gigs were filmed, but other than in Dylan’s little-seen, and commercially unavailable, 1978 film Renaldo and Clara, little of this footage has been officially released before now.

Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year. Part documentary, part concert film and part fever dream, Rolling Thunder Revue is a one of a kind experience, from master filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who previously profiled Dylan in his 2005 documentary No Direction Home.

Every one of Bob Dylan’s performances in the film can be found in the forthcoming box set, Bob Dylan - Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings, a comprehensive anthology of music from the tour to be released June 7 as a companion piece to the film.  This fourteen-CD, 148-track collection includes all five of Dylan’s full sets from that tour that were professionally recorded, and also provides the listener with an intimate insider's seat for recently unearthed tour rehearsals at New York's SIR studios.

Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese is released in select cinemas and on Netflix on 12 June.
