Hail Satan? trailer: Devil worshippers fight to save America's soul
Penny Lane’s documentary Hail Satan? has picked up strong reviews on the festival circuit and following its recent US release. As we announced a couple of weeks ago, it will also be closing out this year's Sundance London festival at the end of the month. While the Satanic Temple being profiled are easy targets of ridicule, the point being made about the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause and the protection it should offer their 'religion' against favouritism to others seems a valid one. Dogwoof announced they have picked up the film for UK distribution and you can check out the trailer for Hail Satan? above to see more.
With unprecedented access, the film traces the rise of The Satanic Temple: only six years old and already one of the most controversial religious movements in American history. The Temple and its enigmatic leader Lucien Greaves are calling for a Satanic revolution to save the nation's soul. But are they for real?
Penny Lane (Our Nixon) directs, following leader of the temple, Lucien Greaves and his colourful flock of followers in their pursuit of justice.
Hail Satan? will be in UK cinemas and on demand from August 23. You can get tickets for the film at Sundance London here.
