Eureka announce Dr Mabuse The Gambler for May

Eureka Video have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Fritz Lang's Dr Mabuse The Gambler for 24th May 2004 with a retail price of £24.99. Following their release of The Testament of Dr Mabuse Eureka are now giving you the opportunity to view its remarkable precursor, Dr Mabuse the Gambler (Dr Mabuse, der Spieler) in its complete four and a half hour glory on a two disc DVD set.

Made in 1922 and hailed as one of the most accomplished works by director Fritz Lang (Die Nebelungen, Metropolis, M), Dr Mabuse The Gambler is a fascinating reflection of German society of the 1920s and all its criminal-ridden decadence.

In this monumental and sensational epic tale of domination by terror, the power-crazed Mabuse masterminds the world's most dangerous gang of counterfeiters, thieves and murderers, wielding hypnotic powers with an iron fist to obtain total obedience to his will.

Rudolf Klein-Rogge, who later plays the mad scientist Rotwang in Lang's classic science fiction epic Metropolis, plays the master of disguise Mabuse in this lavish tale of the cinema's most legendary criminal genius.

The film is spread across two-discs (155mins on Disc 1, 115mins on Disc 2) and offers the following features..

  • 1.33:1 Full Frame
  • Dolby Digital 2.0. Stereo & Dolby Digital 5.1 musical score
