Weathering With You trailer: Take a look at Your Name. director Makoto Shinkai's new film

2016's Your Name. wasn't the first film by Makoto Shinkai but it was the one that put him firmly on the map, as well as becoming one of the most successful films in Japanese history. Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko) is Shinkai's sixth film, but unlike Your Name., The Garden of Words and 5 Centimeters per Second it isn't an adaptation of one of his own novels. A Enlglish subtitled trailer is still some way of being released, but as there is very little dialogue you can sit back and soak in the gorgeous visuals. High school student Hodaka Morishima leaves his home on an isolated island and moves to Tokyo, but he immediately becomes broke. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds a job as a writer for a shady occult magazine. After he starts his job, the weather has been rainy day after day. In a corner of the crowded and busy city, Hodaka meets a young girl named Hina Amano. Due to certain circumstances, Hina and her younger brother live together, but have a cheerful and sturdy life. Hina also has a certain power: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

Shinkai also wrote the script and the voice cast includes Kotaro Daigo and Nana Mori as the voices of Morishima Hodaka and Amano Hina respectively.

Weathering With You opens in Japan in mid-July, going on previous releases it could take anywhere up to a year to hit the UK.
