UK film gender pay gap revealed for 2018 - and it doesn't look good

Along with other businesses employing over 250 employees, UK film organisations have publicly disclosed pay differences between male and female workers this week as required by the UK government.

The results are revealing, indicating that there has been limited progress in closing the gender pay gap over 2018. The organisations include distributors, exhibitors, post-production houses and public companies.

The government report spans all industries, with full results available on the UK Government’s website, while Screen Daily has outlined the key figures across the film and television industry.

Some of the worst offenders are Odeon Cinemas, with women earning 27.4% less than men, Warner Bros Entertainment UK, with women earning 25.3% lower than men, and Columbia Pictures Corporation, with women earning 25.6% less than men.
