The last volume of TinTin arrives this April
Anchor Bay UK have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of TinTin Volume 5 for April 14th 2003. This two disc set completes Anchor Bay UK's five volume collection of the animated TV series and includes the following episodes...
Tintin In America: Tintin and Snowy travel to Chicago during the height of Prohibition and find themselves up against the city's numerous gangsters, including the notorious Al Capone. Pursuing gangster-on-the-run Bobby Smiles into the heart of the Wild West, Tintin has to deal with, amongst other things, an angry tribe of Native Americans, being tied to railway tracks, and a mob out to lynch him.
The Shooting Star: A huge star hurtling through space narrowly misses the earth, but a fragment of it lands near the North Pole. Believing the meteorite contains a rare and valuable new metal, Tintin, Captain Haddock and a team of research scientists set sail for the crash site. However, it becomes a race against time when they discover another expedition ship, financed by the crooked banker Bohlwinkel, is also on its way to the Pole.
Flight 714: On their way to a science congress in Sydney, Australia, Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus accept the offer of a lift from the eccentric "millionaire who never laughs", Laszlo Carreidas, on board his private jet. The plane is highjacked and forced to land on a remote Pacific island where their old enemy Rastapopoulos is waiting for them. With the aid of a truth drug, Rastapopoulos intends to learn the number of the millionaire's secret Swiss bank account and to steal his fortune. Events grow even stranger and more dangerous when the friends encounter a mysterious expert in extra-terrestrial phenomena and telepathy.
The Secret of the Unicorn: In this first part of a story that concludes in "Red Rackham's Treasure", Tintin buys a model sailing ship as a present for Captain Haddock and discovers, in one of the ship's masts, a piece of parchment telling a tale of cutthroat pirates, lost treasure and a ship called The Unicorn. It turns out that the captain of The Unicorn was none other than Captain Haddock's illustrious ancestor, Sir Francis Haddock. Assisted by their detective friends, Thomson and Thompson, Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock set out to discover the secret of The Unicorn and the long-lost treasure of Red Rackham the pirate.
Red Rackham's Treasure: Possessing the vital clues to the hiding place of Red Rackham's treasure, Tintin and his band of friends embark on an expedition to retrieve the pirate's missing fortune. Helping them out is Professor Cuthbert Calculus and his new invention - a shark proof mini submarine. It is no easy search, though, as the friends make strange discoveries on a desert island and endure hazardous underwater adventures before the treasure hunt's unexpected ending is finally revealed.
