Coen Brothers R1 news, and more Fox madness
In the past week Fox Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD releases of two Coen Brothers favourites, Barton Fink and Miller's Crossing. Both films will arrive on May 20th, each sporting newly-remastered anamorphic widescreen transfers and English DD5.1 audio tracks, while Barton Fink offers 8 Deleted Scenes, Miller's Crossing includes Cast and Crew Interviews with Gabriel Byrne, Marcia Gay Harden and John Torturro. Trailers will also be present on both discs, each retailing at $19.95.
So finally some good news for Coen Brothers fans as you can add these to your collection along with the forthcoming Region 2 SE release of Fargo (from MGM), but sadly Fox also announced several R1 titles that have been discontinued, effective immediately. These include the 2-disc SE releases of Moulin Rouge and From Hell, most likely to be replaced with cheaper single disc alternatives. Why oh why do Fox insist on doing this?
Also discontinued effective immediately are: A Glimpse of Hell, For the Boys and Working Girl. The latter is expected to be replaced with a SE somewhere down the line, while you can fortunately still pick up the R1 2-disc of Moulin Rouge via the Red Curtain Trilogy Box Set.
