Framing John DeLorean trailer: Alec Baldwin stars as the controversial businessman
We're already knee deep into festival season with Sundance and Berlin out the way, and SXSW starting this Friday. The Tribeca Film Festival released their line-up today (April 24th to May 5th) and it included the fascinating looking Framing John DeLorean. However, categorising the film isn't that easy. It looks part drama, part documentary, while being incredibly self-aware of its own set-up. Either way, it's a well cut trailer and does a great job selling the film. Find out for yourself by watching the trailer for Framing John DeLorean above.
Money, power, politics, drugs, scandal, and fast cars. The incredible story of John DeLorean is the stuff of a Hollywood screenwriter’s dreams. But who was the real John DeLorean? To some, he was a renegade visionary who revolutionized the car industry. To others, he was the ultimate con man. For the first time, this documentary recounts the extraordinary life and legend of the controversial carmaker, tracing his meteoric rise through the ranks of General Motors, his obsessive quest to build a sports car that would conquer the world, and his shocking fall from grace on charges of cocaine trafficking.
Sheena M. Joyce and Don Argott (The Art of the Steal) are directing, with Alec Baldwin starring as DeLorean, and Alexandra Orton, Josh Charles, Dean Winters and Michael Rispoli all in support.
Framing John DeLorean will hit select US theatres in early June. Hopefully it gets some sort of release in the UK later in the year - although we wouldn't bet on it.
