The Souvenir trailer: Honor and Tilda Swinton star in this Sundance breakout drama

Every year there's always a handful of films that come to attention at Sundance, before gradually gaining momentum as the months pass by. The Souvenir looks set to be one of those in 2019, with Tilda Swinton's daughter, Honor Swinton Byrne, picking up rave reviews for her performance. The film collected the World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury Award at the Park City festival, and Joanna Hogg's film is planned to be the first of a two part series. You can check out the trailer for The Souvenir above to get a closer look.

A shy but ambitious film student begins to find her voice as an artist while navigating a turbulent courtship with a charismatic but untrustworthy man. She defies her protective mother and concerned friends as she slips deeper and deeper into an intense, emotionally fraught relationship that comes dangerously close to destroying her dreams.

Hogg also penned the script, with Robert Pattinson, Richard Ayoade and Tom Burke supporting the two Swintons

The Souvenir is scheduled for a US release this May, but no news yet on a UK date.
