The departure of director James Gunn from Guardians of The Galaxy 3 was pretty messy to say the least, but Disney stuck to their guns and for now the project is on hold. The franchise is too much of a cash cow to let it lie for too long, but Disney are no doubt letting emotions die down before announcing a new director for the third film.
Of course, Gunn's career doesn't revolve around Disney (he has been hired to helm Suicide Squad 2 don't forget). He has co-written the script with his brother Brian Gunn for forthcoming horror Brightburn, which will be directed by David Yaroevsky. He was due to present the film at Sony’s SDCC presentation in July, with the film being released this month, but all the drama has seen it delayed by 6 months. The first trailer for Brightburn has now been released and you can check it out above right now.
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?
Yaroevsky (The Hive) directs, with the cast led by Elizabeth Banks and also starring Meredith Hagner, David Denman and Matt Jones.
Brightburn opens in UK cinemas on May 24th 2019.
