The ArteKino Online Film Festival Launches Today

One of the biggest problems for film fans not living in and around big city centres is missing out on some of the best film festivals held every year. The cost of paying for the films, travel and accommodation often proves to be prohibitive to many. But what if you can skip all of that and enjoy a complete film festival from the comfort of your own home? Step forward the ArteKino Festival, which allows you to do just that.

Now in its third year, the ArteKino Festival features 10 European films in 10 to 15 language versions on their website, artekinofestival.com (with 5,000 virtual seats per film, making 50,000 viewings in total), available for free in 45 European countries. This makes it a truly international film festival, connecting viewers together into one virtual viewing space.

The films will also be presented in movie theatres across Europe to preserve the big screen experience. The ArteKino Festival strives to promote the circulation of European films and to give a large audience access to feature films that might otherwise have difficulty finding distribution in European movie theatres despite critical success and inclusion in festivals. Films appearing this year will be:

24 Weeks, dir. Anne Zahra Berrached (Germany)
Flesh Memory, dir. Jacky Goldberg (France)
For Some Inexplicable Reason, dir.by Gabor Reisz (Hungary)
Il Cratere, dir. by Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino (Italy)
L'animale, dir. by Katharina Mockstein (Austria)
Flemish Heaven, dir. by Peter Monsaert (Belgium)
Mug, dir. by Malgorzata Szumowska (Poland)
Pin Cushion, dir.by Deborah Haywood (United Kingdom)
Pity, dir.by Babis Makritis (Greece/Poland)
Those Who Are Fine, dir. by Cyril Schaublin (Switzerland)

The Artekino Festival runs from December 1st to 31st 2018, and we'll be covering a majority of the films throughout this month.

There will be an audience award at the end of the festival and to sign up to find our more, visit their website to get full details.
