The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Suspended, cancelled or continuing?

Following the tragic death of Heath Ledger this week, we've learned that Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has ceased production and has been suspended, at least for the foreseeable future. Ledger was set to star in the film, but cast and crew have now been told that production is off. The actor was a key cast member and his participation helped gain funding for the feature.

Other, contradictory, reports suggest that filming may well resume with another actor picking up Ledger's role for the remainder of the shoot, with Johnny Depp's name being mentioned but no official confirmation or denial has been made.
