Star Trek 2 - Coming 17th May 2013

Paramount have finally pinned a date on the release of the second Star Trek reboot. The JJ Abrams directed sequel will follow the parallel timeline Enterprise crew where no Trek has gone before - into THREE DIMENSIONS - on 17th May 2013, officially knocking the increasingly tenuous Christmas 2012 date on the head.

This is the first film in the franchise to be released in 3D; but we have no confirmation as yet whether the film will be shot with 3D cameras or whether the added depth will be added in post-production. The film is scheduled to go into production in January next year, giving a healthy 16+ months between cameras start rolling and the release.

The film is being co-written by Abrams with Lost's Damon Lindelof, alongside Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci. Various rumours are circulating on the story and there are strong hints that Benicio Del Toro has been added to the cast as the 'big bad'. We're looking forward to more information as it becomes available.
