Blu-ray Software Sales pass 1 million

The Blu-ray Disc Association has announced that software sales on the Sony-backed blue-laser optical format have passed the 1 million mark. The BDA cite figures provided by Home Media Research and state that in Q1 2007, 70% of high definition movie sales were of movies on the Blu-ray format.

"Blu-ray Discs have been outselling HD DVD by more than two to one since the beginning of the year and the gap is steadily widening", said Andy Parsons, the BDA's U.S. Promotion Committee Chairman. "[C]onsumers have more choices when it comes to players and titles. And they’re choosing Blu-ray by an ever-increasing margin".
