BFI announces 5 new films and star-studded screen talks for the London Film Festival

The LFF schedule expands to make room for some great new additions

While the BFI announced the initial line-up for the upcoming London Film Festival a couple of weeks ago, as is always the case each year, there have been some exciting films added to the roster to make an already exciting schedule even better.

Olivier Assayas’ The Wasp Network, starring Penélope Cruz, Edgar Ramírez and Gael García Bernal will play on Saturday 12 Oct, Cine Lumiere at 17:30.

Trey Edward Shults’ highly-rated Waves, starring Sterling K. Brown, Kelvin Harrison Jr and Lucas Hedges has two dates: Saturday 12 Oct, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, 21:15, and Sunday 13 Oct, Vue 6, 20:30.

Destin Daniel Cretton’s Just Mercy, starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx and Brie Larson plays on Saturday 5 Oct, Vue 7, 14:45 and on Wednesday 9 Oct, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, 14:15.

Kasi Lemmons’ Harriet, starring Cynthia Erivo and Janelle Monáe can be seen on Friday 11 Oct, Curzon Soho, 18:00 and Sunday, 13 Oct, Embankment Garden Cinema, 14:15.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s The Friend, starring Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, and Casey Affleck plays on Monday 7 Oct, Curzon Mayfair, 18:00 and Thursday 10 Oct, Vue 4, 12:00.

There are also screen talks with Celine Sciamma, director of Portrait of a Lady on Fire on Wednesday 9 Oct, BFI Southbank, 12:00 and Michael B. Jordan on Sunday 6 Oct, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, 11:30.

Hope Gap director William Nicholson will also be appearing as part of LFF Connects on Saturday 5 Oct, Curzon Soho, 11:00 and lastly, celebrated director Atom Egoyan will be appearing on Tuesday 8 Oct, BFI Southbank, 16:40.
