Louis Leterrier is directing after Justin Lin stepped away due to creative differences on the Fast and Furious movie. John Cena has become part of the Fast and Furious adventure movie series, as Dom’s long-lost brother Jakob, Han (Sung Kang) is back, and Jason Statham is still around.
Cipher escaped again at the end of the last thriller movie, but now she’s up against a larger group than before, with Fast and Furious characters from across the action movies lending a hand. When is the Fast and Furious 10 release date?
Fast and Furious 10 will come out in theatres on May 19, 2023. This is after several delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At first, the sequel was scheduled for April 2, 2021, which then became Fast 9’s release date.
The scale of production on these movies, with their extended driving sequences and multiple set-pieces that are usually shot on location, made coordinating around restrictions difficult.
Fast and Furious 10 cast
The core Fast Family cast will return in Fast and Furious 10, as well as additions Brie Larson and Jason Mamoa. Vin Diesel is obviously in, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, and Jason Statham – all the regulars. Helen Mirren will also appear, although Kurt Russell is not listed.
In March 2022, Tyrese Gibson posted on Instagram that he’d “just finished reading the F10 script… we are officially on some other shit…” So, expect the unexpected.
Keep it together: The best disaster movies
The DCEU‘s Aquaman, Jason Momoa, has been confirmed for the Fast cast. He’ll act as one of the movie’s villains, and the mega-star has said he’s excited to be taking on another ‘bag guy’ role.
Brie Larson confirmed her Fast and Furious character, and will be playing Russell’s daughter, Tess, in the movie.

Will Dwayne Johnson be in Fast and Furious 10?
No – Dwayne Johnson has been adamant that he will not appear in any more of the main Fast sequels. This is due to an ongoing feud between him and franchise star Vin Diesel. The two had a falling out while filming The Fate of the Furious, which has since spilt out into comments via interviews and social media.
Diesel requested Johnson’s return on Instagram. “You must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other,” he says. “I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfil your destiny.”
Humble roots: The Fast and the Furious cast
It did little to change Johnson’s mind. “When Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise,” he told CNN. “I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful but that there was no chance I would return.”
Unless something remarkable happens, that’s that.

It shines a light on all the new characters, while also giving fans some of that good-old nostalgia with moments from Fast and Furious 5, including a moment with Walker’s Brian O’Conner. It also gives us our best look yet at Momoa’s terrifying villain, who looks set to wreak absolute havoc on the Fast family.

Fast and Furious 10 plot speculation
The plot of Fast 10 will be Cipher’s reemergence and Jason Momoa’s Dante seeking revenge for the death of his father in Fast Five.
In January 2022, it was revealed Momoa would be playing a new villain in the movie, and the official Fast X website has given us details; Momoa is Dante, the son of the Brazilian kingpin from Fast Five, and apparently, Dom’s son will be a target.
Another plot point that may be prominent is Han’s revenge on Deckard Shaw. The Fast 9 post-credits scene had the two of them meet face-to-face, Deckard looking like he’s seen a ghost. As far as he’s concerned, he has: he tried to kill Han, and got pretty close. That’s not something easily forgiven.
Finally, Nathalie Emmanuel has stated that her character, the hacker Ramsey, will be taking on more of a leadership role in Fast and Furious 10. Within this, she has shared that Ramsey will prove her importance to the rest of the team, so it looks likely that she’ll have a more prominent role when the sequel drops.
