Billion Dollar Brain Review

The third in Michael Caine's Harry Palmer series finally gets a DVD release, and Andy Hall has taken a look at the very "bare-bones" region 2 disc.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London Review

For the second time in just a few months, Andy Hall has sat through Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, this time on region 1 DVD, and released on July 13th 2004. Was it any better this time around?
Alias: The Complete Second Season Review

Fed up of chasing a great show like Alias around the TV schedules? Then why not just watch an entire season on DVD instead. Andy Hall looks at the excellent second season box set, out on June 7th.

Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation Review

Released on May 10th, Andy Hall has taken an advanced look at Starship Troopers 2:Hero of the Federation. The original film did warrant a sequel, unfortunately though, not this one.

Anchor Bay UK: Coming to a cinema near you

At their press event this week Anchor Bay UK announced their intentions to enter the theatrical distribution market, and a number of titles which they will be releasing throughout the second half of 2004 into 2005.

S.W.A.T. Review

Released on April 26th 2004, Andy Hall has taken an advanced look at the region 2 release of S.W.A.T. Yet another in a very long line of TV series converted into movies, how does this one fare as a big summer action flick?

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London Review

Out on March 26th, Andy Hall has taken an early look at the second Agent Cody Banks movie. The first one was fun; is this one a step forward, or a big step backwards?

School Of Rock Review

Another one of those "still at the UK cinema but already out on DVD" titles, Andy Hall has taken a look at the region 1 release of "School of Rock". This reviewer was under the impression that this was an over-hyped movie that wasn't going to be any good. But he was pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong, and the disc package is pretty good too.

Wisegirls Review

Mariah Carey in not crap movie shocker! That doesn't mean to say that it's great, but it's a masterpiece compared with "Glitter". Andy Hall continues to monitor the acting career of Ms Carey by looking at this passable crime story about Italian restaurants, waitresses and mobsters. The DVD is released on February 23rd 2004.

Seabiscuit Review

Released on February 23rd, Andy Hall has looked at the Region 2 release of Seabiscuit, an old-fashioned true life drama of an against-all-odds champion racehorse. If you don't mind the somewhat sentimental style, there's much to enjoy in this well crafted drama. The disc is technically good, but for the first time in ages I have to say about an R2 disc: it's missing extras that are present on the R1 version.

Yesspeak Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the double disc set of Yesspeak, a behind-the-scenes and personal look at prog rock band Yes on tour in their 35th year. A mammoth set which will be of great interest to dedicated fans, but far less to anyone else, and ultimately let down by a poor sound mix.

The Fifth Element (Special Edition) Review

It's not the first time this film has been released on DVD, and indeed not the first high quality version of it. But it is the first time in the UK to combine a first class technical presentation with a large selection of extras. Andy Hall looks at this latest version of Luc Besson's SF spectacular, out now in Region 2.

Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (Unrated Version) Review

With the region 2 edition of the film just out, Andy Hall has instead headed over the pond to look at the comparably specified region 1 version. A similar disc in almost every aspect to the first film, with the small problem that this time the film isn't very good...

2 Fast 2 Furious Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of 2 Fast 2 Furious. After enjoying the first movie, he was looking forward to more of the same in the sequel. How wrong he was...

The disc is released on October 27 2003.

The Italian Job Review

Andy Hall has come out of retirement to use just enough explosives to blow the doors off a review of the new version of The Italian Job. An entertaining update or a national insult?

Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. After their first most excellent adventure, this is a funny and surprisingly clever follow up. Unfortunately, there's nothing particularly clever or surprising about this bare-bones disc.

Rollerball Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 1 release of Rollerball (the 2002 remake). A very different film to the 1975 original, so rather than a re-hash this one actually had possibilities. Unfortunately it's a complete mess of a movie.

Stargate SG-1: Volume 22 Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of Stargate SG-1 Vol 22. Four more decent episodes of the TV show presented on the usual quality disc, this one particularly worthwhile for the Wormhole X-treme! episode.

The One Review

Andy Hall has taken an advance look at the Region 2 release of The One. This fast-paced action SF movie will probably annoy martial arts purists for enhancing Jet Li's fighting with SFX, but otherwise it's a fun ride for action junkies. Due for release on 19/08/2002.

Get Carter Review

Andy Hall has reviewed the Region 2 release of Get Carter. Another day, another remake, this time Sly mumbles his way through a pointless remake of Mike Hodges 1971 classic.
