With spoilers: A familiar face is back for Doctor Who series 10
Despite initial requests to keep this piece of news secret following a press briefing of the opening episode of Doctor Who season 10, one major tabloid chose to spill the beans and spoil it for the fans. As a result the BBC has now made an official press release, detailing the return of a familiar face to the upcoming run of episodes.
John Simm will be making his return to Doctor Who as the Master, who appeared in two major David Tennant stories including the Tenth Doctor's regeneration tale The End Of Time. With Michelle Gomez's Missy also returning for her third consecutive series this means fans might finally get to find out what happened to Simm's Master and if we're lucky, give us a Two Master's story. (Now if we can only get Paul McGann for a two Doctors tale, we'd be very happy).
This is what Simm had to say about his return.
“I can confirm that it’s true, thanks to the power of time travel I’m back. It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people and I can’t wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series. “
Steve Moffat also made the following statement.
"Nothing stays secret for long on Doctor Who but you'll have to wait a little bit longer to see exactly what The Master is up to and how he makes his return to face the Doctor. It’s been a huge pleasure to have fan favourites John Simm and Michelle Gomez face to face in the same role! It’s not often you get to see a solo personality clash."
Doctor Who will return to BBC One on Saturday the 15th of April 2017 at 7.20pm.
