The Great British Bake Off - Spoiler Free Preview!
Fan of the The Great British Bake Off and worried that the new series won't live up to previous ones? Worry no more. Here is a spoiler free preview of the first episode of the new series.
The standard and creativity has hit the ceiling this year. One of the first bakes has the most unusual flavour combinations I've ever come across. One of the last bakes is the most inventively decorated baked good I've ever seen.
We have the same characters as we've had for the last few years — you can spot a Holly, a Miranda, a Jason, a Mary-Anne, a Miranda, a Ruth and a Yasmin almost immediately.
There are plenty of disasters to keep everyone interested.
It's still disproportionately exciting.
Everyone is going to fall in love with this guy.
One of the contestants looks like he will be the villain in a Bond film in a few years time, perhaps swinging round in a high-backed swivel chair and stroking a banana loaf.
Mary is as delightful as always.
Once again Paul takes a big bite of a contestant's bake and almost immediately spits it back out.
The words "What the hell? I don't think it'll do any damage" are uttered.
People show off unnecessarily, with spectacular results.
There is a cake so colossally beautiful it actually prompted me to gaze open-mouthed at the screen. The baker of said cake said that all she could see were the imperfections, so she hopes it's okay. I wanted to slap her. In a nice way.
Sue and Mel actually made me laugh out loud, several times.
