Picking up where Tartan left, Palisades Tartan present this thriller on UK DVD later this month...
The final volume in Tartan’s collection contains two of Ozu’s final films – Late Autumn and An Autumn Afternoon - two late masterpieces from one of the world’s greatest film directors.
Tartan's third Ozu collection captures the director's move from b&w to colour films with Tokyo Twilight, Equinox Flower and the delightful Good Morning, and thankfully there is a corresponding improvement in quality for this set.
Noel Megahey reviews the second volume of Tartan's Ozu Collection, containing two delightful films from the director's golden post-war period - Record of a Tenement Gentleman and Flavour of Green Tea over Rice. The DVD set however shows no noticeable improvement in the quality of the transfers.
Noel Megahey reviews volume 1 of Tartan's Ozu Collection releases, containing three of the director's best films - Late Spring, Early Summer and Tokyo Story. Each one a work of pure genius.
