Download announces huge set of bands

It's dark, wet and windy, Christmas is over but certain gifts are still left unwrapped. The premier rock and metal festival, Download, has announced a mammoth 48 bands to whet our appetite for the summer extravaganza. Let's take a look at who's coming to our isles in June.

Glam superstars Steel Panther will be hitting the Main Stage with tongue firmly in cheek, wowing the crowd with their lively shows, while melting faces and hearts all at the same time.

Following a sold-out Wembley show last week, arena smashers A Day To Remember will be continuing the party at Donington, bringing along fresh cuts from highly successful recent album Bad Vibrations . If you missed them on their recent tour of the UK, soon to be retired The Dillinger Escape Plan bring the noise and mayhem on their final UK festival appearance; our tip: see them before they disappear in a blur of noise, strobe lights and smoke.

Rising underground punks Creeper are stepping up to the big stage this summer after the release of their debut album Eternity, In Your Arms coming in March.

Grammy nominated Baroness are rightfully planting their flag in the British mud this summer alongside the enigmatic and ever-evolving Anathema who are ready to dish out their own brand of metal onto the baying masses. Wednesday 13 of Murderdolls fame is returning to the festival after 12 years to headline The Dogtooth Stage bringing along his own brand of horrorcore. Bringing Viking flavour, Scots Alestorm will be telling tales of swashbuckling adventures, while riffs will ring out when Kvelertak turn on the noise. New blood comes in the form of up and coming metalcore band The Charm The Fury .

Still on the metalcore tip come Australians Northlane , the hallowed turf of Donington will certainly expand their international fanbase. The Devil Wears Prada are another returning band, with their explosive sound and exciting live show.
