Green Man Festival is 15 this year

If you can believe it Green Man festival is celebrating its 15th birthday in 2017. Taking place in it's familiar surroundings at the foot of the Brecon Beacons on 17th to 20th August the festival has announced its first set of acts. And they're a humdinger of an announcement.

The headliners

After an ever so mildly underwhelming 2016 - if you can call James Blake, Laura Marling and Belle and Sebastian underwhelming - the line up at the top of the bill is totally exclusive to Green Man in the festival space. Ryan Adams and Future Islands are an excellent mix of electronic indie and guitar driven Americana, whilst PJ Harvey is a UK exclusive. Yes, this is Polly Jean's only date on these isles in 2017. They're stellar names in this space and with new albums from both Adams and Islands on the way before August you can expect a great mix of old and new.

The undercard

The headliners don't do it for you? What's wrong with you? Anyhow, no matter, there are a bunch of excellent acts in the rest of the bill. So, for the soul lovers there's the fantastic Michael Kiwanuka, for the country lovers there's Nashville veterans Lambchop, the genre busting Angel Olsen and Jessica Pratt, as well as the up and coming Americana of Hurray For The Riff Raff and Julia Jacklin. Also playing are indie pop-rockers Sunflower Bean, folk-popper Laura Gibson, 6Music faves Badbadnotgood, and ever presents Deep Throat Choir.
