Union City in February

Tartan Video have announced the UK DVD release of Union City for 20th February 2006 priced at £19.99. Set in the 1950s, Marcus Reichert’s noirish thriller, UNION CITY, is based on the story by Cornell Woolrich, whose earlier story inspired Hitchcock’s Rear Window. It stars Dennis Lipscomb, Everett McGill, Sam McMurray and an early film role for Debbie Harry. The Blondie connection continues with guitarist Chris Stein composing the soundtrack. The hyper-stylised camera work is created by Ed Lachmann (The Virgin Suicides; Far From Heaven, Ken Park), and he floods the scenes in blues or greens or reds. Equally the attention to period details is atmospheric. Originally released in 1979, here’s a chance to revisit the scene of the suburban crime, and no crying over spilt milk if you miss it!

Features include:

  • Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
  • Dolby Digital 2.0
  • Introduction and notes by director Marcus Reichert
  • Deleted scenes
  • Debbie Harry’s screen test
